Reach South Texas

Who We Are

Reaching South Texas exists to assist the south texas presbytery (PCA) in church planting and church revitalization.

Reach South Texas (RST) is made up of member churches of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) who are within the bounds of the South Texas Presbytery. We are committed to planting churches in the South Texas region, encompassing the greater Austin, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio areas, and supporting churches seeking revitalization and gospel renewal.

RST is governed by a board, which is elected by our member churches. Board members are Teaching Elders or Ruling Elders actively serving in Reach South Texas Kingdom Multiplier level member churches. Board members are elected to two year terms.

RST seeks to plant PCA churches that embody the following guiding principles:

1. Visioning, teaching and embodying a culture of grace. We seek to plant churches that are soaked with gospel life so that they become vibrant faith communities.

2. Practicing a winsome and contextually-aware missional posture towards the surrounding world. We seek to plant churches that are neither against the culture nor blindly follow it, but which faithfully, graciously and courageously exemplify Christ's presence to our neighbors.

3. Multiplying by planting future churches. We desire that from the beginning each congregation commit itself to resourcing future church plants through finances, training and people. Such a missional priority aims at the broader renewal of the entire South Texas region.

4. Equipping and resourcing church planters during the first three years of launching their church plant through particularization. We recognize that church planting is a totalizing experience for the planter and his family, requiring significant emotional, spiritual and methodological support.

Membership

Stp Map With Mission Churches 2 Edited

All South Texas Presbytery churches are eligible for membership in Reach South Texas. This collaboration with South Texas Presbytery uniquely positions RST to address the specific needs of church planting in the South Texas region. Because we live, work, and worship within these communities, we are able to address the particular needs of this region and of the newly planted churches who serve them.

THREE TIERS OF INVOLVEMENT

Churches may choose one of three levels of involvement:

  • Pastor Supporter (1%)
  • Congregation Participant (1.75%)
  • Kingdom Multiplier (2.75%, not required to exceed $60,000)

Financial commitments, regardless of tier status, are based on the total undesignated contributions from the previous calendar or fiscal year. It is also the expectation that all member churches, regardless of their Reach South Texas participation level, shall financially support South Texas Presbytery at a minimum of .75% of the previous year's undesignated contributions.

All newly planted churches shall commit 1% of regular, undesignated contributions in year one after weekly Sunday worship begins. Year two and until particularization, church plants shall commit 1.75% of regular, undesignated contributions. Upon particularization, it is the expectation that churches planted by RST shall participate at the Kingdom Multiplier level.
